  • Councillors

Retired dentist Paul Edlin is a councillor for Newton Mearns South and Eaglesham. Paul’s election came after the retirement of longstanding councillors Barbara Grant and Jim Swift.

Paul grew up in Giffnock and was a dentist in general and hospital practice, with a focused interest in special needs patients. He has lived in Newton Mearns since 1985 and worked with local charitable organisations, particularly in fostering positive religious harmony amongst different minority faith groups in Newton Mearns and Glasgow.

Paul said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has caused huge distress in Newton Mearns for many especially those who have disabilities and chronic illnesses, losing loved ones or seeing them severely ill.

“The financial consequences of the pandemic has caused ongoing serious damage to small businesses and their employees and I will do all I can to ensure the Council supports those feeling the effects of COVID-19.
