Our plan for a common-sense budget

For too long, the SNP have hammered Scottish workers and businesses with ever-higher taxes – all while public services only get worse and worse.

We need to start to undo the damage of SNP tax rises by reducing income tax, business rates and the tax on buying a home.

That’s why we have put forward a common-sense tax plan to cut bills for workers, businesses and would-be homeowners.

Our fully-costed tax plan sets out our calls for the Scottish Budget, after the SNP requested proposals from all opposition parties.

While the SNP, Labour and other left-wing parties in the Scottish Parliament think they can keep taking so much of taxpayers’ money while giving so little in return, our common-sense plan offers an alternative approach.

It would provide families and businesses across Scotland with more freedom and control over the money they work so hard to earn.

At a glance:

  • We would cut income tax to 19% on income up to £43,662. This would benefit over 2.7 million taxpayers in Scotland and save the average worker £222.
  • We would pass on 40% business rates relief to Scottish retail, hospitality and leisure businesses.
  • And provide 100% business rates relief for Scotland’s pubs and restaurants.
  • Cut the Land and Business Transaction Tax – or stamp duty – to 0% for residential properties worth up to £250,000, saving the average house buyer £800.
